What's your flavor?

Understanding your wants vs your needs when purchasing Gold Jewelry.

We all want the best in life and purchasing jewelry is no exception. In order to reach this matrimony of perfection you will need to reach for the stars for your perfect desire but as you reach don't forget practicality and who you are as a person. With that being said lets dive into the different types of Gold jewelry in the market and how it may fit your lifestyle.

Variations of Gold

Gold Filled vs Gold Plated vs Gold Vermeil

Gold Filled vs Gold Plated Gold filled piece's are created by melting at least 5% gold by weight onto the base metal, whereas a gold plated piece will typically contain much less, and possibly tarnish or wear away faster.

Both gold plated and gold filled jewelry feature a base metal that’s coated in gold—but it’s the thickness of the coating, durability, and the process that sets them apart.

Gold Filled vs Gold Vermeil Gold filled jewelry is hypoallergenic and will outperform vermeil in gold by weight and durability against everyday wear—meaning a piece whose luster lasts for years to come.

Gold Plated vs Gold Vermeil

The two potential differences between gold plated and gold vermeil jewelry are that: gold vermeil will always use sterling silver as a base metal, and will always have a thicker layer of gold compared to traditional plating.

More Value for your dollar and lifestyle

If you are looking for long-lasting / durable / hypoallergenic pieces that does not break the bank, but will last a lifetime with normal care, then Gold Filled is definitely your flavor.

Sometimes it just does not workout as planned :( and we understand.

Therefore if you flavor is other than Gold Filled... Let me leave you with my personal thoughts:

Traditional Gold Jewelry -> make sure you are getting the best quality (the higher the Karat the softer the gold)

Vermeil vs Gold Plated Jewelry -> Not picky on hypoallergenic items then go for the cheaper option. If you need hypoallergenic I would suggest Gold Filled or Gold, but if you must Vermeil will be the best option for plated jewelry.
